Who Is Eligible? — Qualification Criteria for HVF Avadi Apprenticeship 2026

The eligibility rules differ by category. Read carefully before applying:

Category I — Graduate Apprentices (Engineering)

Essential Qualification: Regular B.E. / B.Tech in relevant discipline from a Statutory University or institution, empowered by an Act of Parliament. State/Central Government recognized Professional bodies equivalent of graduate examination.

Category II—Diploma Technician Apprentices

Essential Qualification:freshers have to possess a full-time Diploma in Engineering/Technology from a State Council or Board of Technical Education, a University or an Institution recognized by the State/Central Government as equivalent.

Category III – Non-Engineering Graduate Apprentices

Mandatory for a full-time BA / B.Sc. / B.Com. UGC approved (Statutory / Deemed University) degree in the relevant discipline such as B.Com/ BBA/ BBM/ BCA.

🚫 Not Eligible: Distance Education / Correspondence / Open University qualifications, Post Graduates (PG) etc and already completed or currently pursuing any apprenticeship or having 1 year & above work experience are ineligible to apply.

HVF Avadi Apprentice Stipend 2026

Apprentices at HVF Avadi receive a fixed monthly stipend throughout the one-year training period:

  • 🎓 Category I (Graduate / Engineering): ₹18,000 per month
  • 📐 Category II (Diploma / Technician): ₹16,200 per month
  • 📚 Category III (Non-Engineering Graduate): ₹18,000 per month
⚠️ Important: Completing the apprenticeship does NOT guarantee employment at HVF. The factory has no obligation to offer a job after training, and apprentices cannot claim employment rights on completion.

HVF Apprentice 2026 — Selection Process & Shortlisting

There is no written examination for this recruitment. The selection process is straightforward:

  1. Applications should be made via the NATS portal (nats. education. gov.in).
  2. Based on the online applications received, the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Southern Region) — BOAT (SR) prepares the shortlist.
  3. Shortlisting is done purely on the percentage of marks obtained by candidates in the qualifying degree/diploma.
  4. The shortlisted candidates will receive an email at their registered mail ID.
  5. The shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the Certificate Verification process in person at Harsh Vihar Factory, Harvey, Chennai.

💡Pro Tip: Please ensure that your percentage of marks / CGPA is correctly recorded in the NATS portal as shortlisting is based only on marks. If the marks field is left blank, they will be disqualified from consideration.

How to Apply for HVF Avadi Apprenticeship 2026?

All applications must be submitted through the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) portal. There are three paths depending on your registration status:

If you are a first-time user (Never enrolled on NATS portal):

  1. Go to nats.education.gov.in
  2. Click Student → Student Register
  3. Complete the registration form — a unique 12-digit Enrollment Number (ATN…) will be generated.
  4. Log in with your Email ID and password.
  5. Under “Apply against advertised vacancies”, search for “HEAVY VEHICLES FACTORY”.
  6. Click Apply — your status will show as “Applied”.

If you are already enrolled on the old NATS portal (mhrdnats.gov.in):

  1. Visit nats.education.gov.in → Student → Student Login → Forgot Password
  2. Enter your registered email ID to get an activation link and reset your password.
  3. Log in and complete the migration process to the new portal.
  4. Then search for “HEAVY VEHICLES FACTORY” and click Apply.

If you are already enrolled on the new NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in):

  1. Log in directly with your email ID and password.
  2. Go to “Apply against advertised vacancies” → Search “HEAVY VEHICLES FACTORY” → Click Apply.
